One of the first things that I wanted to know when I was first diagnosed with Pancreatitis was what the prognosis was, was I going to die from this disease? What is the life expectancy with Pancreatitis.
The answer seems kind of complicated. Although there are numerous claims that it will lessen your life by 10 to 20 years it all seems to be based on how well you take care of yourself once you become ill. If your pancreatitis was caused by alcohol or excessive smoking, then continuing to use these substances will certainly lessen your chances of living longer.
But if you follow a lower fat diet, and use pancreatic supplements to reduce the effects of chronic pancreatitis that seems to help. Also suggested are supplements like vitamin C and Selenium. Finally it is suggested that you drink a lot of water since Chronic Pancreatitis causes dehydration of the pancreas.
So the answer to the question of how pancreatitis affects your life span depends a lot upon what you do after you have been diagnosed with it.

look only to my stomach and my oesofaghus.
It have it for 6-7 years that pain, sometime 2 month of and on, now daily. Tomorrow the doctor will speak with me after 1 month of pain and pain. maria
